James moved to St. Paul where he apprenticed in the law office of his brother-in-law, Morris Lamprey. He was admitted to the bar on June 7, 1874. For the next fifty years - a period of extraordinary change in the profession - he practiced in Ramsey County either in a family partnership or alone. He died on August 6, 1930, and the following year the Ramsey County Bar Association presented a memorial to him. |
