Taylor" (1896).In November 1896, James Schoonmaker, a former special municipal court judge in St. Paul, who had ambitions for an appointment to the district court, filed a criminal libel complaint against Rebecca J. Taylor for circulating a libelous issue of "Truth," a weekly newspaper she edited and published. The libelous article appeared in the September 14 issue and described the Judge's arrest during a famous raid of Madam Leppla's whore house seven years earlier by Minneapolis police.
