Upon graduating the University of Minnesota College of Law in 1901, Louis Hubachek was admitted to the bar, and began practicing law in Minneapolis. He built a lucrative practice that ranged from litigation to probate. He retired in 1947, and died on December 20, 1956, at age eighty-four. In memorial services for the county bar association the following year, he was recalled:
"Louis A. Hubachek was a quiet, scholarly, industrious, loyal, kindly and efficient lawyer and gentleman. He was not given to having pride of opinion. Another lawyer, -- even a younger one, -- might question his judgment or his opinion. Such question only evoked quiet discussion of all phases of the problem at hand. But let anyone, -- no matter how exalted an office he may have held, -- question Louie's devotion to his client's interest, and Louie's response with prompt, to the point, and in the most forceful of language."
