John B. Sanborn, "The Work of the Second Minnesota Legislature, 1859-1860" (1905).

The Second Minnesota Legislature was in session from December 7, 1859, with the Democrats in power, to January 2, 1860, when the Republican Party took control, to March 12, 1860, when it adjourned.

In 1904, General John B. Sanborn delivered an address to the Minnesota Historical Society about the accomplishments of the Second Legislature. He chaired the Judiciary Committee of the House when the Republicans took command in January 1860. His address was published the next year and is posted here.

In 1908 the multi-volume "Minnesota in Three Centuries" edited by Lucius F. Hubbard and Return I. Holcombe was published. The third volume of this history has an account of the Second Legislature, which is posted in the Appendix.
